Turkey Tail Mushrooms & Immune Function

In my role as a Certified Holistic Cancer Practitioner, I recommend supplemental Turkey Tail mushroom to my clients with cancer almost one hundred percent of the time. There are no adverse effects with supplementing. On the contrary, supplementation has been clinically proven to boost the ability of the immune system to attack cancer cells. In fact, the Turkey Tail mushroom is the most extensively researched of all medicinal mushrooms, backed by large scale clinical trials.

Science shows that this mushroom contains an arsenal of cancer-killing compounds, with two specific polysaccharide complexes gaining the most attention in the scientific community: PSK and PSP. PSP has been shown to significantly enhance the immune system in 70-97% of cancer patients. PSK and PSP work by increasing the number of cancer-blasting killer T and Natural Killer (NK) lymphocytes in the blood.

In 2011, a seven-year clinical study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that Turkey Tail mushroom improves immune function when given daily to women with stage I–III breast cancer.
