Why Everyone Should Eat an Anti-Cancer Diet

articles Jul 30, 2022

We don’t have a cure for cancer, but we can win this war by avoiding it in the first place.

Research shows us that we can prevent, suppress, and even heal from cancer (and other chronic diseases) through simple dietary habits. As a cancer survivor, this fact propels me to flood my bloodstream with superior nutrition every single day.

Before my cancer diagnosis, I was living a lifestyle that I thought was ‘healthy’, and completely oblivious to how my diet and lifestyle were affecting my health. Cancer was the kick in the butt I needed, and believe me, anything less severe wouldn’t have worked. Through my journey with cancer, I discovered a science-based dietary pattern that helped me not only heal from cancer but also prevent its recurrence.

The science on cancer and diet is well established and shows a clear link between specific dietary patterns and cancer risk. Additionally, scientists have discovered specific substances in certain foods that suppress cancer growth. These substances have a biochemical ability to prevent, halt, and even reverse cancer-promoting mechanisms in the body. Therefore, I make it my goal to flood my bloodstream with superior nutrition 3-6 times a day (or as often as I eat).

We have the data to win the war on cancer, so why isn’t this message isn’t getting out to the public with the vigor it demands? Why are most people still in the dark about how to eat to prevent disease?

Let’s look at the facts:

  •  The consumption of certain foods has been historically associated with increased cancer risk and other foods have been associated with decreased risk.
  • 30-35% of all cancer deaths are directly related to diet.
  • Diet may be linked to 70% of cases of colorectal and prostate cancer, 50% of breast, endometrial, pancreatic, and gallbladder cancers.
  • Scientists have discovered specific substances in foods that have been shown to suppress cancer growth in laboratory studies. These substances have a biochemical ability to prevent, halt, and even reverse cancer-promoting mechanisms in the body.

But wait. Why should any of this matter to you if you haven’t been diagnosed with cancer?

Because the statistics are as sobering as they come.

If you live in North America, your risk of being diagnosed with cancer during your lifetime is nearly 1 in 2. If you live in the UK, your risk is 1 in 2.

This next part is critical…

Cancer research is mostly devoted to finding cures rather than finding new ways to prevent it in the first place.

Our priorities are skewed, and the results are obvious. 2021 was the 50th anniversary of Nixon’s declaration of the war on cancer, yet death tolls from the most common forms of cancer in North America have continued unchanged.

It is time to change the way we approach cancer. Clearly, we have been looking at the nature of cancer in the wrong way. Cancer is a chronic disease that typically takes 10-40 years to develop before it is detectible. Our bodies make cancer cells daily, which means we are always at risk of developing malignant tumours. Breast cancer doesn’t begin when a lump is first detected. All the common cancers (which also cause the most deaths) have a long latency period, often 20 years or more. These include lung, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers. There is an odd misperception that someone is “healthy” until they have symptoms of invasive cancer. A person cannot be healthy and then suddenly one day get cancer. The reality is that they haven’t been healthy and have had cancer growing in them for decades.

The lengthy period of cancer development is latent and responsive to nutritional factors. Certain dietary components are known to suppress cancer growth while others are known to promote it. Therefore, we have a golden opportunity to intervene in cancer development!

The KEY to not getting cancer is to nip it in the bud before it becomes malignant.

We have to start protecting ourselves NOW, not after a cancer diagnosis.

Start by unlocking the power on your plate. Eating nutrient-dense foods is the simplest and most powerful way to arm yourself against cancer.
