Simple Breakfast Oatmeal

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup large flake oats
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond/soy/oat milk (or water)
  • ½ cup frozen berries (blueberries/raspberries/strawberries)
  • ½ cup finely chopped or grated apple
  • 1 Tbsp ground flax
  • 1 small banana, mashed
  • 1 Tbsp ground hemp hearts
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp pumpkin seeds and walnut halves

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add oats, grated apple, and frozen berries to a small pot and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then turn heat to medium-low and cook oats for 5 minutes or until desired tenderness is reached. Stir in your milk, mashed banana, and flaxseed.
  3. Remove from heat and add to a bowl. Add more milk if desired and top with hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.

*If you do not have a fresh apple on hand, substitute with unsweetened apple sauce (1/2 cup or as much as is desired for added sweetness).
